Areas of Help-Individual Psychotherapy | |||||||
Individual sessions are available to help people work through problems that are interfering with their lives. I can aid you in becoming aware of your ability to assess your strengths, develop your optimal potential, clarify your current problems, and assist you in changing self-defeating thinking and behaviors and in the power of positive choices. Counseling treatment is unique for each patient and depends on your needs and goals. The philosophy that governs my practice is the unwavering belief that people have a limitless potential to heal and grow. It is my goal to help you recognize and realize your abilities. As a LADC1 (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor), I am able to work with individuals on alcohol and drug addition counseling.

Art Therapy
|
|||||||
Linda L Maxwell is a Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC). Art therapy is a form of expressive therapy that uses art materials. Art therapy combines traditional psychotherapeutic theories and techniques with an understanding of the psychological aspects of the creative process, especially the affective properties of the different art materials. As a mental health profession, art therapy is employed in my practice in a studio setting. The purpose of art therapy is much the same as in any other psychotherapeutic modality: to improve or maintain mental health and emotional well-being. Art therapy generally utilizes drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, and other forms of visual art expression. For that reason art therapists are trained to recognize the nonverbal symbols and metaphors that are communicated within the creative process, symbols and metaphors which might be difficult to express in words or in other modalities. Art making is seen as an opportunity to express oneself imaginatively, authentically, and spontaneously, an experience that, over time, can lead to personal fulfillment, emotional reparation, and transformation. |

Group Psychotherapy | |||||||
Group psychotherapy is a special form of therapy in which a small number of people meet together under the guidance of a professionally trained therapist to help themselves and one another. The therapy has been widely used and has been a standard treatment option for over 50 years. Group therapy helps people learn about themselves and improve their interpersonal relationships. It addresses feelings of isolation, depression or anxiety. It helps people make significant changes so they feel better about the quality of their lives.
